It can also handle greater amounts of dirt and debris so is a good choice in particularly windy areas or where there are a lot of trees surrounding the area. Like the suction model, once it's in the water you just forget it and let it do it's work. You do have to clean out the filter bag on occasion.
Robotic cleaners are the most involved. As the name suggests, this cleaning system is fully self-sufficient. The equipment includes a motor for vacuuming up dirt and debris and a separate motor for movement. They are plugged into an electrical outlet and placed into the water to do its job, then removed after they clean. Robotics do not utilize the existing pump and filter system.
One of the main benefits of robotic models is that it is independent of the pump and filter system, so there is less wear and tear. It is also removed when not in use, so swimmers don't have to contend with cleaner hoses and equipment in the bottom. The built-in filter system not only picks up debris, but does a good job of filtering smaller particles out of the water.
